What is the dual plane technique?
The dual plane technique is a breast implant placement method where the implant sits partially beneath the pectoral muscle in the upper portion and partially beneath the breast tissue in the lower portion.
The dual plane technique positions a breast implant in two anatomical layers during augmentation surgery. The upper half of the implant sits beneath the pectoral major muscle, while the lower half rests under the breast tissue directly. This partial muscle coverage creates a transition zone that combines structural support with natural breast contour.

The muscle coverage in the upper breast provides support for the implant and helps prevent rippling that can occur with tissue-only placement.
